Eddy Dreadnought is a contemporary artist, whose methods include performance, drawing, fabricating assemblages and installations, video, and writing. He often works with ‘found objects’. Usually the work is based on significant research.
His art aims to raise questions about the world around us, but open questions posed in a sensory, poetic way, free from the curse of certainty. It is preoccupied with horizontal versus vertical structure, and frequently defaults to exploring these dimensions, being unable to fully comprehend the need for hierarchy. It also draws inspiration from the social geography of wherever he finds himself.
He works out of Sheffield, UK, where he gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (first class), and more recently an MA in Contemporary Fine Art Practice in 2010. Both from Sheffield Hallam University under his non-artists name.
